First things first: What is a romantic wedding?

Are you thinking about roses, big gowns, pale colours and embroidery? Well, you are not way off the mark. A romantic wedding is about everything love can inspire. To better describe the romantic style, I’ve asked the help of Sandra & Sara of Ilbiancoeilrosa, here’s what they have written:
Romantic wedding style remains always a timeless choice because it combines the fundamental elements of a wedding: love, beauty, elegance and creativity. After years of trends, willing to dare ad get out of the usual aesthetic schemes, we think that the classic and elegant romantic wedding is going to come back in the hearths of brides to be.
The location is the frame of the event and a historical Italian villa is a great choice if you want to create a fairytale setting. In these venues, I imagine the bride dressed in a long wide gown and an embroidered veil. The groom with a classic tight or a dark blue suit, with a white flower as a boutonniere. The palette of colours for a romantic wedding usually can have white, peach, dusty pink or cyan, light yellow or you can play with just one colour and gold, for example. To end a romantic wedding day, the first dance is a must! Right after the cutting of the cake and just before unleashing the dances with all your guests, this first dance as a married couple is an important memory to have, consider it!

Where you can plan your romantic wedding in Tuscany?

Where you can plan your romantic wedding in Tuscany?

Tuscany is one of the most important wedding destination in Italy, not only because it’s amazing (and I’m not biased just because I was born here, I swear!) but also because it presents a wide choice of venues, for all wedding styles!
If we want to talk about a romantic wedding in Tuscany, a villa is a great choice! Sandra & Sara of Ilbiancoeilrosa have picked three of the most beautiful and versatile, that can be simply perfect for a dream wedding in Tuscany.

Villa La Bianca (Camaiore, Lucca)

Villa La Bianca is a little boutique hotel in Camaiore. Surrounded by nature and not far from the sea, with its six rooms and four apartments, it offers a relaxing stay away from the urban chaos. The pool and the park are perfect for lazy afternoons and walkings. Focusing on events, this location is a gem, perfect to host ceremonies like intimate and little destination weddings. If you have less than forty guests, there is a wonderful plan B for the reception, without the need to rent tents or other covering structures. Villa La Bianca perfectly matches the romantic wedding. You can organize a symbolic ceremony in the park: imagine an arch with English roses and hydrangea with an alley of petals that leads you to your sweet half and the mountains on the background. Under the patio or in the “greenhouse” you can set up an imperial table with your closest friends and families. If you add some chandeliers, an olive runner with some bright flowers, the romantic atmosphere is created! The internal catering offers a great traditional Tuscan cuisine with a twist of innovation, for an unforgettable wedding dinner. The cutting of the cake can be done under the medlar, surrounded by a lot of lanterns, and the romantic dream become reality.

Villa Scorzi (Calci, Pisa)

Villa Scorzi is located in Calci, a little location near Pisa and its airport. The climate is wonderful all year here, thanks to its position in the wonderful Valgraziosa, under the mountains around Pisa. Couples who choose to get married in Villa Scorzi love not only its beauty and unicity, but also the many options that offers. The many gardens of this venue are great options for the different moments of the event: starting from the Italian garden in front of the structure, you may also want to choose the rose garden or the other garden near the pool for your ceremony. The gorgeous Corte Del Pozzo is great for an outside dinner or aperitiv with your guests. Inside the villa there are two big halls and more little ones perfect for your plan B. This venue is great for who searches for a romantic style because it connects the Tuscan countryside and the historical background of an ancient villa. In Villa Scorzi is also possible to celebrate civil marriages, this way you won’t need to move and organize the transfer from one location to another, but everything will be done in the same venue. Dusty rose, beige and a touch of terracotta can be a great colour palette suggestion for this location.

Villa Grabau (San Pancrazio, Lucca)

Really close to the city of Lucca you can find the amazing Villa Grabau, one of the most famous historical wedding villas of the area. The connection that I have with this villa is so deep that I have chosen this one for my own marriage! Every time I walk in the big park, the garden of lemons and the little Teatro Di Verzura is an emotion and that’s why I love to suggest this location to my couples. This venue offers a wide choice of solutions and wonderful sights. The “Teatro” is often used for the ceremony in summer, due to its fresh position under the trees. The garden of lemons, with its big fountain in the background, is also a great option for the ceremony, although there is no shade there. After the aperitif, all the party can proceed to the dinner location, the wonderful “Limonaia”, used in winter for storing the lemon plants of the villa. This is one of the most famous of Tuscany, since it preserves its original charm and thanks to its dimensions can host up to two hundred guests. To create a perfect romantic atmosphere lights play an important role. The high columns of the building can be lit with coloured lights or a web of string lights can be created, like a starry sky over the dining area or the dance area. A great palette of colour for this venue could be some bright ones, like white, ivory and cream. Shades of these colours can give a bon-ton touch to the event and fine details like linen tablecloths, vintage crystal glasses and silver cutlery will be the cherry on top! If you are dreaming of a fairytale wedding, Villa Grabau is the perfect choice for you!

A wonderful dreamy inspiration for your wedding gown

A wonderful dreamy inspiration for your wedding gown

When I stumbled upon this romantic wedding dress, I simply couldn’t help choosing this one for this guide. The name of the model is Nimue and it was designed by Aire Barcelona. Its super romantic princess line simply got me and the lace back was the cherry on top! One detail that I really love of this gown is its French sleeves, a wonderful romantic note.

Which flowers should you choose for your romantic wedding?

Which flowers should you choose for your romantic wedding?

A romantic wedding requires adequate flowers to enhance the dreamy tone of the day, that’s why I’ve asked the brilliant Cristina of Fiori Fiori to describe the perfect flowers for a romantic style.
She said that regarding the wedding arrangements, what determines the style is the type of flower and its color. For a romantic wedding, elegant flowers with delicate shades such as roses, peonies, hydrangeas, dahlias, lisianthus, ranunculus and spray roses cannot be missing.
The romantic colour par excellence is pink, a symbol of love and sweetness, refined and romantic nuance capable of transmitting, with its lightness and its ethereal being, a wonderful sense of peace, positivity and serenity. There are obviously many shades, from the most delicate and romantic to the most intense and energetic, but if there is one that goes beyond any fashion and really manages to be always the current year after year, it is the blush pink shade.
The chromatic harmony that will allow the wedding to be called Romantic will be subdued to the choice of including two shades of pink, a lighter and a darker shade, and in order to harmonize the colour palette an ivory colour must be introduced before the white to make everything more delicate and balanced. The flowers must be included in elegant but not too structured and rigorous arrangements. Therefore, they must have a natural appearance and objects of different sizes must be used, some in glass, others in ceramic, others in white or small plaster gold or mercury glass containers. Everything will have to be accompanied by candlesticks, lanterns and candle holders of different sizes, heights and materials.
Returning to our flowers, we can classify as primary flowers: roses, peonies and hydrangeas.

Rose
With its timeless beauty, it is present throughout the year and always offers a great assortment of varieties and colors.

Peony
It is the queen of elegance and refinement. It blooms from early May to mid-June. Those who love this flower and cannot do without having it for their wedding. It can be replaced either with the English rose, from June to September or with the dahlia in September-October. Both substitutes are very similar in style, opening and chromaticity.

Hydrangea
The beauty and the vaporous dimension are its distinctive features. It is chosen because it can easily fill the arrangement and gives it a certain importance. Available all year round thanks to local production and import.
To create a romantic style, the primary flowers, distinguished by their size, must be joined by smaller flowers in order to create movement and harmony between the different shapes.
The secondary flowers are: lisianthus, ranunculus and spray roses.

Lisianthus
It is the flower that symbolizes the wish for a happy life together. It is present all year round thanks to local production and import.

Ranunculus
This flower is linked to an ambivalent meaning connected both to beauty and radiance and to melancholy. A perfect mix for a romantic bride who dreams of a wedding in soft colors. Ranunculus is found in the spring period. In its absence, it can be replaced by spray roses.

A great example of a romantic bouquet is this one that I had the luck to shoot on a wonderful wedding last year. Here is the description written by Cristina:

The photo of this bouquet shows the aforementioned details. Its contained shape, executed with refined, not too showy flowers, best defines this romantic style. The slightly decomposed and lively shape, the overlap of primary flowers such as roses and dahlias with secondary flowers such as lisianthus and spray roses, the nuance of colours from white to ivory and the contours of the various bright shades of greens such as wax flower , the olive tree and the eucalyptus make the style unmistakable and emphasize, without obscuring, the bride's lace dress. Like the flowers, the bridal bouquet must stand out, make it shine and adorn, but never obscure.

The perfect ring for a romantic wedding

The perfect ring for a romantic wedding

The rings inspiration couldn’t have but an intense romantic touch.
I’ve asked again Elena of Linea Laboratorio Orafo  (see her previous contribute here) to choose a perfect romantic ring for this style and she suggested me this one.
Its name is Hydrangea (like the flower we have talked about before). It presents a lot of wonderful flowery engraves and it fits amazingly the theme of the romantic wedding.
There’s no better way to end this section than talking about a little curious thing about this ring. Elena told me that she loves all her creations but especially this one since she had designed thinking about her wedding! I think that it’s amazing to have the chance to design the symbol of your love!

Inspirational make-up colours for your romantic wedding

Inspirational make-up colours for your romantic wedding

I’ve asked again Maura of Maura Martinelli M.U.A. to create an inspiration make-up for a romantic bride, here’s the description of her work.
The focus of the romantic bride it’s the emotion. The main colour of this make-up is pink, always associated with femininity and sensitivity. This colour enhances every part of her face: lips, cheeks and eyes. It can be matched with purple for colder complexions or with peach for warmer complexions. The make-up widens the eyes and cheeks are coloured by a mild touch of natural flush. To complete the romantic look, the hairs are softly tied up and nails can be dyed with nude pinks.

A gorgeous design for a romantic invitation and stationery

A gorgeous design for a romantic invitation and stationery

This post couldn’t be closed better than with one gorgeous romantic wedding stationery. This design was made by the creative Alessandra & Fabio of Le Petit O.
I love how the whites and greens romantically harmonize with each other. The calligraphy of the names and the flowers enhances the romantic atmosphere. The graphic effect of the wild roses on the invites is great! If you pay attention, every single element can be looked individually, but together they will form the complete image, a wonderful inspiration! The colour of the envelope is the same as the texts, so there is continuity with the colour palette of the design.

Thank you for reading!

As I always love to underline, this post has the goal to give you just an inspiration and if you are willing to have a romantic wedding in Tuscany, you can mix and add your own inspirations to ours.
I really hope that you’ve loved this!
